Falaah is the Arabic word for success. Muslims of all ethnicities are familiar with this word. We hear it every day in the call of prayer, "....Hayya 'alal falaah! (Let's hurry to success). Come to prayer means come to success. Such words are the call saying to the believers. We will find success in the prayer, in sustaining our connection to Allah Ta'ala.
We could say that the definition of success includes our trust in God. Do what is required, make an effort, and leave the revenue to God. Our Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him has explained to the believers that all their affairs are amazing. He said in his Hadits: "How wonderful is the affair of the believer, for his affairs are all good, and it applies to no one but the believer. If something good happens to him, he is thankful for it, and that is good for him. If something bad happens to him, he bears it with patience and that is good for him." Trusting Allah Ta'ala means that there is no failure. Barriers and difficulties just a minor glitch on the road to ultimate success.
Someone is considered successful and on the road to ultimate success because of his attitude, his intention, and his ability to trust God's promise.
Qad aflaha man zakkaahaa. Wa qad khaaba man dassaahaa. He will indeed be successful who purifies his ownself. And he will indeed fails who corrupts his ownself. (Qur'an Surah Assyamsy verses 9-10).
The moment when we are successful and the way how to be successful are taught by Allah Ta'ala throughout the Qur'an. God also tells us when we are failing, and when in fact we are losing or in lose. However, success in Islam is not only one way success (merely in the world), but also two ways success (in the world and in hereafter).
SUBHAANAKALLAAHUMMA WA BIHAMDIKA ASYHADU ALLAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTA ASTAGHFIRUKA WA ATUUBU ILAIKA.
